Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Every year since we moved here to CA (1981) it is tradition that our police association comes the Sunday after Thanksgiving with their Santa float. Santa rides up and down the streets of our neighborhoods passing out candy canes to anyone brave enough to see him. It's a tradition we look forward to every year and since its right after Thanksgiving it really kicks off the Christmas season for us!
There's much anticipation with waiting for Santa- there's always one of us that sets off a false alarm (usually because we hear him WAY before we can see him). So we usually end up waiting outside for him. And finally at last a police cruiser comes down the block blaring Christmas music and sirens (to someone new you'd think we were under attack) and announcing the arrival of Santa.
Everyone gathers at one point on the block and waits, Santa arrives and we take turns getting on board and saying hello. Our Santa has been with us since we had the girls- so he always remembers "the triplets" and makes a point of saying how big they've grown and how he remembers him (Proving my point this year that he IS watching them! YEEEESSSSS!)
Santa then gives everyone a candy cane and is on his way to the next block. The girls loved their candy canes. Maddie had hers gone in 2 seconds flat it seems and did it with no mess. The other 2 relished in the peppermint a tad longer and messier!
Christmas is in full swing around here as I'm sure it is with you too. We have one more week of school and then we get 3 weeks off! So much to do! The girls Winter Music Program is this week at school. Stay tuned for video of that! :)
