Leap!

So its leap year- can you remember what you were doing LAST leapyear? I was "baking" and praying my "timers" wouldn't go off until March 1st (at least) :) hee-hee!

Can you imagine us celebrating the girls' FIRST birthday THIS year if they were born today? Phew! Wow does this picture bring back uncomfortable memories! And I baked for 15 more days! Hey- we still have that bear too!

Best birthday!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes- here on the blog, thru email, cards, calls, presents and in person- you truly make me feel special :) This by far has been one of the best birthdays ever! It's right up there with skydiving and the year after when i was VERY pregnant with the girls and couldn't get off the couch to do much of anything (no pictures of that thank goodness!) I decided this year that I wanted to have my birthday be something the girls would enjoy too. I wanted to do the Palm Springs aerial tramway last year, but we just ran out of time- I'm so glad we waited because this was the perfect age to take the girls for the first time! We drove 2 hours to the beginning of Palm Springs, elevation 2000 feet, we boarded this tram and went up to 8500 feet in less than 10 minutes and were in the snow! We had to walk a small distance down a winding path to get to the sledding area and while we were down there it started to snow! The girls were in heaven enjoying it and what amazes me is that yet again- they all 3 liked/took to different things! Emily loved making the snowman, ashley loved throwing snowballs at grandma and maddie could not eat enough snow (she also got the biggest kick out of the sled). All in all a fantastic day!

Skydiving for my 30th Birthday!

The suspense is over! The Incubus song has to do with.... my birthday :)

5 years ago I sent out an invitation to my nearest and dearest friends asking them, "Are you in?" Proving they are as crazy as I am, several responded yes and 5 years ago today off we went to the Mojave desert to SKYDIVE! It was my 30th birthday and I wanted to do something BIG! In all 6 of us jumped that day- it ended up being an all day event and we had a blast! I will never forget this day!

That year was a big year for me- little did i know when i took this jump that 5 months later I would be pregnant, with triplets! Yes- 30 was a BIG year for me, so now that I'm 35 what are the plans? Stay tuned! The event takes place tomorrow (weather permitting)!

My girls know their emotions, are aren't afraid to show them or tell you about them. Several times a day I hear from someone, "mommy, you made me angry"or "mommy, you made me sad". It would be depressing if it weren't for the fact that they are so dramatic with the facial expressions and body language. Emily's whole body gets into the act when she is upset, the shoulders droop, the head hangs low, the lip pouts, she takes a deep sigh- lifting her shoulders then letting them drop as she sulks off to some corner at a snails pace. oscar winning performance there! Ashley on the other hand sticks around when she is mad and isn't afraid to take it out on you. She loves to give us her mad face and she's got it down good!

So how do you like the blog so far? I've added a few things since I started, most notably MUSIC! About halfway down the list is a song by incubus called "Are you In?" Why this song you say? You'll find out Friday (though some of you know already) :) hee-hee! A few pictures from today- we spent some time outside since we've had cabin fever from being inside sick, also we hear we are expecting rain tomorrow...

Happy Valentines Day!

We are laying low this year (still recovering) but I wanted to share one of my favorite pictures of the girls that I took 3 years ago for Rick for Valentine's Day!

Triplets Down! Mommy Down!

About 6 pm Sunday night Ashley came up to me and said, "I don't feel so well mommy". Sigh- and thus the marathon begins. In less than 24 hours I had all 3 sick with fevers, cough and Emily throwing up anything she drank. Since then I have felt awful too and was down all of yesterday myself on the couch (thanks mom for your help!). We got the girls to the doctor- Ashley and Maddie have double ear infections, Ashley's ruptured some time Monday night and so they are on antibiotics and ashley gets drops in the one ear as well. Emily is on hold right now for antibiotics because her ears were clear! Yay! She has been sweating off her fever today and is just beginning to perk up a bit and want to play. I'm better after more sleep last night (thanks Rick!) and will be back to work tomorrow (thanks Lisa!). Having 3 sickies in the house is no fun, but we've been lucky so far this winter so it seems we were due. Here are some sad pictures of sickies present and past :)

Starting with Pride!

After many hmms and haws about it (and a few gentle pushes) I've decided to have a go at this blogging thing. I've always been interested in it (and if you ask Rick he'll tell you I'm addicted to reading other peoples' blogs) but I've always been leary about the amount of time needed to maintain a blog (and some safety concerns too). But my friend Tanya insists that its easy and since she has triplets (plus one!) and does it- well I can too! in fact- after this week I've decided I can do anything (and Tanya has something to do with that too!).

Life with triplets isn't always easy. Top it off- these are my first children- so I approach everything with that new mommy mindframe and often feel I am the last to do things with my girls because I'm nervous of how the change will affect us all (I'll blog about that another day) :)

Living in Southern California, we are spoiled with beautiful weather (it was in the 80's today!) and TONS of opportunities to get out of the house. I've prided myself on not being stuck at home because I have triplets. We go to the mall together, Sam's Club, and restaurants. However, there still are those taboo places that I shy away from when it comes to taking the girls by myself- the doctor/dentist, the park, and until this week... DISNEYLAND. Yes folks- I took the girls to Disneyland by myself this week! I wasn't sure, but the girls had a dentist appointment on Thursday and I took the day off of work for the occasion. My mom went with us to help entertain those that weren't in "the chair". Afterwards we came home, had lunch and hit Sam's Club. I had spoken with Tanya earlier and she was game for the Happiest Place on Earth if I was. The girls were EXCELLENT at the dentist (even Maddie let them touch her this time without a wrestling match) so I thought- what's the worst that could happen? Well- all kinds of scenerios went through my head, but in the end I decided that I could do it, and off we went! (Grandma had an appointment and could not join us)

I didn't tell the girls where we were going, but Maddie always seems to figure it out- as we were leaving she said, "I think we should go to Disneyland, Mommy." How could I lie? So I said- you bet we're going to Disneyland- just us! All the way there we talked about the rules and how very exciting this was and I made sure to tell them that if this went well we could do it again. We had a wonderful time and Tanya and I decided that we CAN do anything! We had 2 mommys and SEVEN children under the age of 5 (2 double strollers- Tanya has 2 year old triplets and an older son who is 4). We were there for about 3 hours total. I brought the girls' pajamas and changed them in the van before leaving so when we got home all i had to do was get them into bed. I'm proud of my girls for doing so well and listening to me and I'm proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone (also proud of Rick for not objecting to the idea!) So the O'Connor's score another point in the milestone system of life with triplets and I think I've found a new blog to be addicted to! Hope you'll visit often!
